For over 15 years one event has been the staple for the UK software testing community: TestExpo.  It’s an event that Sogeti is proud to host and sponsor twice a year.

September is rolling around fast, so we’re gearing up for the next event which is due to take place on Thursday 22 September at London’s Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre.  Themed ‘A world of difference: testing tomorrow’s applications’ September’s event will be a chance for our community to discuss the testing tools and applications of the future.  As always I know it will be a lively debate of how our industry can identify and challenge all that lies ahead of us.

TestExpo is free to all attendees and at each event we see more QA professionals, software testers, managers and developers attend.  The events are lively, informative and fun.  Personally I look forward to each one, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

It’s also great that Sogeti is joined by so many influential companies that have shaped, and continue to drive, the software testing industry.  To date some of the vendors that will be attending the event include:

Green Hat and Original Software, two of the world’s leading automated software testing firms, participating once again as sponsors.

iTrinegy, an expert in networked application performance.

Microsoft, the worldwide leader software, services and solutions, which is a key sponsor.

Epicentre, an expert in software testing and consultancy

Seapine Software, a global application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions provider.

This is the first group of sponsors that have signed on. Be sure to keep an eye on TestExpo’s blog and Twitter feed [@testexpouk] for updates on additional sponsors and exhibitors joining as well as information on this event’s Innovation Panel.

We hope to see you 22 September for what’s sure to be an engaging and informative day. To register head over to the TestExpo page or email me at harreet.khara@sogeti.com.

When most people think about East London, they tend to imagine bars, students or even long-running soap operas. They probably don’t think of it as a major hub of technological innovation and development. Yet that’s exactly what it’s become.

Over the last few years, East London has experienced a digital boom. More and more technology businesses are choosing to locate in the area. Chances are you’ve heard of Silicon Roundabout – the area around Old Street and City Road that became the home for web companies like Dopplr and Last.fm. It’s remained a great location for burgeoning companies – as of last year there were more than 80 technology startups in the area.

And now things are looking even brighter. The Government is hoping to extend this technology hub into the neighbouring area of Stratford as well. This proposed ‘East London Tech City’ is gaining a lot of interest internationally – Cisco, Google, Facebook and Vodafone are just some of the companies that have invested in the project.

In short, it’s a hugely exciting time for the UK tech industry and, as a resident of East London, Sogeti is proud and thrilled to be part of it. Because whatever exciting new concepts, products, software emerge from the area, testing will play a critical role, and we’ll be ready and willing to provide any help companies might need.

Sogeti has always had a commitment to education, and we’re ideally situated to help companies in East London Tech City understand the importance of proven, structured testing processes. We have a huge amount of knowledge and experience in testing, and we’re eager to share it with other IT professionals – that’s one of the major reason we offer our training courses.

And that’s not the only reason we’re excited. With technology innovation comes testing innovation. We’re always looking at ways to refine our testing processes, and I suspect that East London Tech City will throw out lots of new methodologies, discoveries and ideas for us to explore.

So remember – there’s more to East London than you might think. And who knows, in a few years the area could rival Silicon Valley itself.

Sogeti breakfast briefing Holborn Bars As many of you know, Sogeti, Capgemini and HP recently published the third annual World Quality Report. The report, compiled from information received from over 1,200 IT executives, examines the state of Application Quality and Testing practices across the globe, as well as emerging trends that may affect the future of testing.

This year’s World Quality Report reveals some fascinating and surprising insights into the state of testing today – we’re sure many of you have found it invaluable already. To celebrate its release, we’re hosting a complimentary Breakfast Briefing on Thursday 30th June 2011 at the prestigious De Vere Holborn Bars in London.

Application experts from Sogeti, Capgemini and HP will run through the key findings uncovered by the report, including current trends in QA outsourcing and how new technologies such as cloud computing are affecting testing processes. They’ll reveal how these findings apply to the UK market and what this means for your organisation.

More importantly, the breakfast is an invaluable opportunity for all professionals involved in the testing process, from CTOs to project managers, to come together for a frank discussion about the report, and testing in general.

To confirm your attendance at the FREE event, please call me on +44 (0) 207 014 8900, or send me an email at: harreet.khara@sogeti.com
